HAPPY NATIONAL PUNCTUATION DAY!!

I am a little late on posting this but as some of you readers may know, last Thursday was National Punctuation Day and in Yearbook we celebrated it. Our class was all decked out in hanging punctuation marks and my teacher, Mrs, Gomez, said that, "We put them up there to remind us to never leave anything dangling." When I walked into class the reporter and photographer were there and I whipped out my exclamation point and and was immediately asked about it and got my picture taken. Here is what my poster said, it was a love letter:
You express my strong emotion and help me convey my extreme feelings in my writing. My personality shines through when I use you and out of all other punctuation marks, you are my favorite. Don’t tell the rest but you are the most overused and when I write I always exchange them for you. I feel close to you and when I place you next to my words you light up my page and make it complete. If you did not exist my world would be dull and full of sadness. My stories would never be the same. Thank you for always being there to excite me and make me happy.

I love you,

Anna

After my newspaper debut was recorded we played a game. My teacher had thought up the idea to have a Punctuation Intervention and she made cookies with punctuation marks on it and the editor made punctuation deprived sentences. We then picked numbers and when it was called we had to be the Sentence Therapist and correct the sentences and complete the intervention.
All in all it was a really fun day and very creative.

Okay, I give up....

I NEVER say anything bad about Anna and Katie, but here goes; they are horrible bloggers. When I took a break because I was feeling overwhelmed by events in my life I thought they would bog every couple of days, maybe not as much as me, but hey, come on....

So I'm back, never short of things to say, especially when it comes to my wonderful family

The pictures on this blog are of Katie with her new CONTACTS!!!! She is still having a little difficulty but she wakes up early so her Dad can help her with them before she goes to school.

Last week Drew and I attended Open House at Flannagan High School. I am not bragging when I tell you that I am over the moon proud of my daughters. Each teacher had something wonderful to say about the girls. Katie's English teacher said that Katie is one of the best writers she has ever had. Her art teacher called her an "angel" and said she hoped Katie would keep taking her classes until she graduated. Her Advanced Placement Psychology teacher said that she was at the top of the class and was 99% sure that she would receive a college credit for this class. Anna's Journalism teacher had her and the entire class selling yearbooks, she made Anna in charge of all the money collected that evening and told us that Anna was on the Yearbook Executive Board. (Drew visited more of Anna's classes, but he too heard many hugely complimentary things).

Right now Anna and Katie are doing homework, Jia is writing love notes to Parker and Drew is hiding out upstairs watching football (he thinks we don't know) . Meanwhile, I guess the blog is back to me. Hope all is well with each of you. God Bless....

GOD BLESS AMERICA!

Day after 9/11/01 attacks. My sister and I were only 7 and in the 2nd grade.

9/11/09. 8 years later and my sister and I are in 10th grade. My mom had kept the newspapers from the day after the attacks. Jia, who was not born yet, has no clue what today means to the world.

Patriots' Day, we wear red, white and blue in honor of our country and the tragic events on 9/11/01.

Hello,

This is Anna. Today was the 8th anniversary of 9/11/01 also known as Patriots' Day. It's hard to believe that there are people in my mom's class that do not remember this and that Jia was not born. I believe that this changed the whole world we live in. Today I am remembering the brave people who were killed and those who lost their loved ones. The bravery of the passengers on Flight 93, who purposely crashed their plane in Shanksville, Pennysylvania, defies my imagination. On 9/11/01 many heroes and angels were made. May God bless them all.

Love,

Anna

Jia's Open House

Hi this is Katie! I wanted to share with everyone that Daddy and I went to Jia's Open House tonight. Mom wasn't feeling up to going.
At Silver Palms, we met Mrs. Castillo again for new information about her class and the school. At the Open House, we were told about Jia's upcoming field trip to a farm, the Fun- Friday activities, the new activity day scheldule, and how Jia is taking on a more "leader-like" position in the classroom. (I think she's just bossy). While looking at a poster up in the class, it showed that Jia has the 3rd highest amount of stars out of all her classmates!! Jia also created a picture of her favorite activity to do in school and she chose computers, including a nice picture of what looks like an oven. She also got some magazines for the book fair, and she has already started picking out the books she wants.
Mrs. Castillo told us she sees more confidence in Jia's attitude and work so far this school year. Jia's lucky she't got a teacher who cares so much about her learning!

Love,
Katie

P.S. I got contacts today! It only took me 30 minutes to get it. I'm a PRO! I'll post a picture soon.

I Am Me!

Hello,

This is Anna and as you read in the last post I will be writing the blogs for a while. This video is of Jia saying her I Am Me poem that she learned in school. Every week Jia learns a new poem and it goes in her Poem Book. When she comes home she has to read it to us and then either Mom or Dad has to sign it.

Hope you enjoy!!

Love,
ANNA :D

Hello/Goodbye

I am going to be turning over the blog to Anna for a little while. She is excellent with the pictures and she is far more computer proficient than I. She will fill you in on the wonderful things that she and her sisters do. With perhaps some guest writing from Katie, who has received accolades about her writing from both her English II Honors teacher and her AP Psychology teacher.

As for me, I was hoping to be better when school started again, however I am finding things way more difficult than I thought it would be. I am discouraged.

Love to All,

Lesa
