Katie is Sooooo Wonderful!

Katie has had A LOT of achievements lately and we are so proud of her.  A couple of weeks ago Katie won First Place in FIU's first year experience essay test.  There are about 4-5,000 kids in the freshman  class at the school.  We are so proud of her.

Katie's Uncle Craig and Auntie Jenny sent Katie a congratulatory gift and a really sweet note.  Even though they only live in Georgia we see them rarely and the present was a very thoughtful thing.

Final exams this week and next for both girls.  Katie just got the results for her first one, which is her Education class-99%

Katie is going to hate me for writing this but she has also had a few other major accomplishments.

1.  Her Education group finished early and they were asked to help the other students.  They were then allowed to finish the class early.
2.  Katie's First Year Experience teacher recognized her in class for her Essay and gave her a present.
3.  Katie's went up to her Environmental Science Professor to ask a question.  He said "Hello Katirna" (she was shocked that he knew her name) he then proceeded to ask Katie if he could use her project as an example for future classes.

She has worked so hard and has really found her place.

I'm Back!

I was going to close this blog down as so many people are exclusively facebook friends these days, but I was looking through the other night and just didn't have the heart to. It is a history of my family just like photo albums used to be.

I promise you that there will be very little political liberal politics in this family blog, but sometimes there just has to be something that crosses party lines and touches your heart.
The recent actions of godless people who hurt others is unfathomable.

My brother, a staunch Republican, and a retired U.S. Airborne Ranger said it best:  "no civilian should be able to buy an assault weapon for any reason EVER. "  We both come from a family of hunters with grandparents who lived in a heavily wooded area, there were rifles and a handgun in that home. I agree with him 100% on the issue of having rifles for hunting and hand guns for protection.

How can you explain this evil?

Jia's Spring Picture Day

Here are some pictures of a VERY sleepy Jia on Spring picture day.  She is excited because she has a new outfit on with pants with "holes in them just like Anna"  The child is growing like crazy and we are going to have to go through her closet.  The jeans we bought for Christmas have to be rolled into capris.  She is little but she has super long legs and arms.

Tomorrow Anna is coming home and she is bringing her boyfriend Victor with her.  They will only be able to stay from Friday night until Sunday morning.  The good news is that we will be going to pick her up on May 1st.  Drew and I will go and Katie will be staying here with Jia.  Anna says she is homesick and has had enough of school for the time being.

Happy Spring!

JIA'S EASTER

THE EASTER BUNNY WAS VERY GENEROUS WITH JIA THIS YEAR (ALTHOUGH WE REALLY DID MISS THE BUNNY'S ACCOMPLICE.  JIA LEFT CARROTS, A CUPCAKE AND WATER OUT FOR THE BUNNY.  THIS YEAR HER GOODIES WERE HIDDEN IN THE HOUSE.
I BELIEVE JIA MIGHT BE THE ONLY KID IN THE WORLD THAT DOESN'T LIKE CHOCOLATE, BUT THE BUNNY BROUGHT HER STARBURSTS, SKITTLES, JELLY BEANS SOME EGGS WITH MONEY AND A FEW LITTLE PRESENTS.

SHE WAS VERY PLEASED, LATER SHE BECAME KATIE'S SOUS CHEF AND DID A WONDERFUL JOB ON THE DEVILED EGGS.
