Independence Day at Silver Palms

Parents are not allowed to go into the schools here in South Florida for security reasons, however, the first week of school, parents ARE allowed to bring their kids into the Cafeteria and eat breakfast with them and walk them to class. This is particularly reassuring for the kindergarten and first grade parents.

After one week they have Independence Day and the school is closed to parents (All schools are closed to parents unless you have a conference and then they take down all your info, drivers license, id, take your picture etc. this goes for middle school and even Anna and Katie in High School)

ANYWAY, back to my point, on Independence Day everyone at the elementary school dresses up in red, white and blue. So here are a few shots of Jia in her outfit. (by the way, Jia has not let me walk her in to school, or eat breakfast with her at all this year, she says "I got it Mom".

Today was Back to School for the Parnham girls. Anna and Katie are entering 11th grade. Anna was so nervous she was awake all night. Katie as her clothes picked out for the whole week, and Jia would not let me walk her into school, she told me she knew where to go and only babies got walked in. I asked her if she was going to miss me and she said "no" but then I asked her if she would be glad to see me when I picked her up and she said YES. So i guess that is good enough!

It was a little bit tough for me this morning, so I decided to get dressed as though I were going to school too. Tomorrow it is back to sweatpants.

Here are a few pictures from Jia's First Grade "Meet and Greet" which was yesterday. Drew was there. The girls didn't get any pictures of him. Jia was very proud of her own desk and we were very happy that she seemed to have received the best teacher ever!

The thing I am not happy about is that she is in the other Jia's class again, and not only that, but she will be sitting RIGHT NEXT TO HER. At least Jia knows that she is Jia-Li at school and Jia at home.

I am not wearing sunglasses in these pictures to look like a movie star. I was late for the presentation and got pulled over! I cried so hard that not only did I not get a ticket (think the cop was afraid and wanted to get away from me...hee hee) But all my makeup washed down my face.
Day before I put a huge hole in our tire accidentally running over a curb taking Anna to school. I am not having a good car week.

We haven't posted in a while, so we found these cute pics of Jia that Anna snapped. The two of them love to take pictures of each other and even though these are just Jia, the ones that Jia takes of Anna are pretty good too.

Everyone here is getting ready for back to school-Drew goes back this Monday, August 16th and the girls go back next Monday, August 23. On Friday, August 20th Jia goes to meet her new teacher. We are very happy, her teacher last year (Mrs. Castillo) recommended a teacher named Mrs. Zelonka for the first grade and Jia got her!

We are socked in with rain today. We did get a chance to get to Old Navy to buy Drew some back to school clothes. Now the family, dogs, cats and kids are settled down with the tv.
